Caring for Newborns and Children in the Community - Planning Handbook for Programme Managers and Planners (Samira Aboubaker, WHO et al.) - 2015

This planning handbook, published in collaboration with UNICEF, WHO, USAID, and Save the Children, is intended to inform managers and planners about caring for newborns and children in the community, its three community-based packages, their benefits and requirements. The resource also offers guidance on selecting the best mix of interventions and packages to expand or add in their country, and key decisions and actions in planning and implementing the packages in the context of current country activities.

Institutionalizing Community Health: Critical Principles

In March 2017, nearly 400 community health champions from 44 countries, representing multiple sectors, gathered in Johannesburg to share global and country specific evidence and lessons and identify opportunities and challenges – financial and human resources, programmatic, and socio-political – for institutionalizing community health as an integral component of primary health care in order to transform the future and ensure that every mother, newborn, and child not only survives but thrives in the Sustainable Development Goals era.

Disease Control Priorities, Third Edition

The World Bank's Disease Control Priorities systematically assess the cost- effectiveness (value for money) of interventions that would address the major sources of disease burden in low- and middle-income countries. The third edition differs from the first and second by extending and consolidating the concepts of platforms and packages and by offering explicit consideration of the financial risk protection objective of health systems.
